I just got back from my trip to the East Coast. It was an amazing trip with an insight into what is going on around America with a little break of sailing in the middle. I have always loved the East Coast because I am from East Coast Canada and love the culture and hospitality there. I found that Virginia and South Carolina have those same traits and I felt at home there and more care free. I am still evaluating and figuring out if that is because I have no worries of school or chores, but right now I don't think it is because of that. I went to my regatta in Columbia and stayed with a wonderful host family that welcomed me and Tanner with open arms and made us feel like we were at home. I witnessed first hand this Southern hospitality almost everywhere I went in South Carolina. It is an amazing thing and I love the manners that everyone had. Nobody honked there horn to express their frustration and need to get from one place to another. The sidewalks were full of people, but no one was pushed out of the way. You would wait your turn and when you could, pass them. I hope to return one day to the East Coast and experience the kindness and love that they have for each other there.
